1st Year Of Uni Over!

Hey guys,

Sorry it's been a few months but I'm back now from uni. Hope life's going okay!

Will be weird saying goodbye to my room where I've experienced the worst lows, especially first term but thankfully it has gotten so much better from then. I'm moving out next Wednesday to mine and my friends new house which is kinda exciting.

I can't wait to decorate as I had way too much fun decorating my uni room this year, as you can tell I love fairy lights.
I don't even know where to begin as it's been so long but I'm gonna talk through in chronological order because why not, I'll try to be brief though.

Looking through my phone pictures, I have so many of York uni's campus as I do just love it, it's one of the things that has made me love uni even when I've been stressing out over my exams. So to anyone struggling to decide between a uni, loving the campus and city of where you'll be studying really helps to make uni as good as possible.

So I wanna do a separate blog post about what happened 22nd May at Ariana Grande's concert from my point of view but I'm luckily fine, others weren't so lucky which is heartbreaking.

If you can remember I joined PhotoSoc so I'm part of 2 societies, that and CatSoc (dunno how I got to be this cool either;) For the last meet up this term, they set up an exhibition for everyone to enter and see who wins a camera at the end. Here is what I wrote for my 5 chosen pictures.
Feel free to follow them on instagram, they chose one of my pictures to repost which is pretty cool, I got way too excited when I saw my picture on their instagram page!
Here are my 5 pictures I chose, most of them are recent/taken at PhotoSoc events apart from one when I was back in Leeds (the John Lewis architecture one) & one I took as part of my photography a level (the macro flower one)
Bringing it back to June 8th, it was the first time I could finally vote as annoyingly for the referendum I missed out on being able to vote by a few months. So my mum took a picture of me and yeah I was pretty chuffed being able to have a say in my future. I'm proud to say I voted Labour, I read all their manifesto and their policies were just what we need and I genuinely believe Jeremy Corbyn is the guy to bring about those changes. Yes I know we "lost" the election but I'm using quotes because Theresa May was the real loser, she was worried she'd lose 6 seats and she ended up losing 12! I knew us young voters could make a difference, just have to wait until her mess of a government collapses now. Politics rant over, also just wanna say I still respect you if you voted Lib Dem or another party apart from the tories who are an embarrassment and if you haven't realised that by now, please wake up and see how much they're damaging our society and poor people!!

You know when just the little things in life make you happy, well finally taking advantage of living less than 2 minutes away from a cafe made my day. This salted caramel milkshake I had was insanely good, as well as the amazing fruit smoothies I had as well.

The last event I went too for first year was the summer ball which was held in York race course which was pretty fun as there was inflatables, silent discos, games and alcohol.

Now, lets discuss my dreaded exams..
I had 6 modules in my English Language and Linguistics degree this year which meant I had 6 exams including one on a Saturday night I mean how unfair is that! I thought all of them apart from like 2 went awful and I especially thought I failed phonetics and phonology.
BUT I MORE THAN PASSED THEM ALL, NO RESITS FOR ME!!
I got a 2.2 for grammar, 2.2 for syntax, 2.1 for sociolinguistics, third for phonetics & phonology, 2.2 for history of english and 2.1 for semantics. I'm so happy and proud of myself, I actually did it :)

Randomly moving on to my plants I bought at a plant sale at uni ages ago, look how pretty they are:

Right so it wouldn't be my blog if I didn't post at least 1 picture of my cat Smudge, I'm not even sure what she was looking at but the angle made her look cuter if that's even possible.
I wanna end on the funniest picture I found of me when I was in primary school, so here is me smiling nicely for my photo vs what I can only describe as my pissed off not wanting to be in the picture look:
Anyway, don't worry I'm done now you can stop scrolling aimlessly! Now that's my life recap over but now I'm back home I'll continue to post every Sunday. Enjoy your summer!
Byeeee for now,
Sophie
