Quick Catch Up

Hey guys, it's that time of the month again!.. wait ew no I don't like that start I sound like I'm your period haha oops. Anyway, moving on hope everyone's coping in preparation with exams and have been having a good time!

So of course after I finished the 'Vampire Diaries' and then after 'The Originals' I was looking for a new tv series to watch and lots of people I knew started to watch 'Once Upon A Time' so I thought I'd give it a go and see if it was any good. I'm already on season 2, so that in itself says how good it is but wow if you like twisted/fucked up fairy tales as my friend would say then I would so recommend it! It has every fairytale that you can think of and they are all incorporated so well into the storyline it's so addicting. Probably wasn't a good idea to get into another series on Netflix before exams, but who cares right!?

Went with my mum to the Harrogate Flower Show and we'd both never been before but it was pretty cool though, way bigger than I expected. The annoying thing was that I brought my DSLR camera to take pictures but I went to turn it on and my battery wasn't in there, my dad left it charging overnight but I had no idea so really it's his fault;) Although my phone worked just fine instead, got these 4 really cute little kittens, hanging hearts to hang from my wall and a flowery cactus in a cute cacti pot so pretty happy with my purchases. Below are the kittens I bough ft my books(which you must read) and these really funny/creepy orange babies that a shop was selling and they were reduced from £15 to £5 which makes sense because what kind of creep would wanna buy them?(no offense to the few people out there who would voluntarily buy them). On a side note even though I sometimes use the phrase 'no offense' myself before I insult someone/something but I just can't stand it like what is the point in saying it because you are clearly meaning to offend someone or else you wouldn't have said it. If you really need the word 'no offense' to protect you before you insult someone then wow you need to man/woman up!

As soon as we entered the flower show there was these cute old men in a band playing loads of different instruments and this one guy had an umbrella and was dancing away looking like he was having the time of
his life so of course I had to capture that special moment haha.

Forgot to tell you but the 20th April so on the Monday night I went to Olly Murs' Never Been Better Tour in Leeds and wow it was amazing! I also went to the Sheffield date 31st March before but I was seated and this time I was 2nd row standing so that made the whole experience a lot better if you know what I mean! There was this amazing photo booth there that just summed Olly right up because there was a treasure chest filled with the most random things such as a flamingo, his lyrics to songs, a hat with a flower on it, tinsel even though it was way after christmas and loads more. I went with a friend and met up with another and we all had so much fun! Below I'll attach my fave photo from the night of him:
Also, in case you're wondering yes it did annoy me the fact the stupid camera was there but at least it's black so it sorta blends in with Olly. Right, well I've got a lot of things off my chest(just saying it out loud makes me not like that phrase anymore ha) but I went shopping today in Leeds today and I'm so happy with my purchases, I got clothes for sixth form which is good because that means I can just wear them for home too, I got these duck egg blue jeans and anyone who knows me will know I'm so obsessed with this colour I wear 'Little Duck' by Tanya Burr which is that colour all the time! There actually was a size 6 as well, normally only bigger sizes are in stock all the time which annoys the hell out of me, small people will understand!

So, think I've said enough for today, will talk to you all later!

Stigma Behind The Celebrity Culture

I'm back and it hasn't been long, success!
So today I wanted to talk to you about everybody's obsessions with celebrities and how for a lot of boybands and famous people there is a huge stigma behind liking them as if you're committing a crime! However, liking a football club, being obsessed with them and crying when they lose is a completely different thing!

Like I honestly don't understand our culture these days, everybody just judges who we like and if we don't like the same people then we are hated. That just isn't right like the world would be such a boring place if everybody liked the same people, had the same music taste and aspired to look like the same people. Everyone just needs to grow up and realise people have different tastes!

I also feel like a lot of people don't understand for example why anybody likes youtubers when apparently they either didn't work for their fame, don't deserve it because all they do is film videos or they can't be seen as idols as they haven't done anything to look up too. (Personally I 100% disagree with all these views) Yet millions of young kids nowadays look up to footballer Luis Suarez who bites people when he gets angry..right ok because he is definitely role model material.

You wanna know the reason behind liking youtubers, boybands, models etc? I say this from my personal view but so many people grow in confidence from what youtubers say in their videos or what boybands say to their fans. Like I went to Alfie Deyes(a YouTuber from the channel PointlessBlog) signing a couple of weeks ago in Leeds (feel free to judge me but just read what I say before you criticise me) and I just felt so freaking confident when talking to him and that doesn't happen very often for me! And it's just the best feeling like at school I only talk when teachers ask me questions and I'm only confident when I'm around my friends so yeah I guess I'm kinda quiet but when I was with Alfie I just felt so confident and amazing and I loved it! That's how most people feel when they see their favourite people, so stop judging people for things/people that make them happy! Would you laugh at people for getting excited over pancake day? Nope.. so why laugh when people get excited over a boybands new single!

There isn't enough happy people in the world, so do you really wanna be the reason to make yet another person be miserable? Still there's people dying due to depression (like the awful case of singer Lil' Chris) because people don't see it as a serious issue, how many people do people need to see die before they believe it's a serious mental illness and with help it can be overcome! People just need to ignore the social stigma and accept it's a thing and advise them to get help! I feel like I'm writing a speech but seriously though we need to stop living in the world where 'Just deal with it' was the solution to everything because it's clearly not anymore! We aren't robots you know, you'd think it sometimes with how the government treats everyone, for example comparing ourselves with the Chinese population who get straight A's but only because they have no social life and work 24/7; that's not even living right? People say the teenage years are the best years of our life, but I couldn't disagree more like all anybody cares about is getting good grades and then into a good uni I hate it so much! Personally, I'm just so looking forward to finishing sixth form and being able to have a good time in my 20s (still contemplating about uni's though).

Sorry about the rant haha as you can tell I'm very passionate about this topic so I can easily go off on one but hope you agree with some of my opinions as I know there's a lot of ignorant people out there! Talk to you guys later.
Sophie

( PS I know it's random but forgot to say when I was picking up my brother from uni a while ago, I was obviously collecting boxes from his room and some older guy living there thought I was moving in for uni! That's honestly the first time someone has thought I'm older than I am. Even in places like HMV trying to buy a rating 15 dvd when I'm 16 they just wouldn't let me like that so annoyed me. I needed ID to prove it and you know just this day I didn't happen to be carrying around town my passport with me;)

Revision Tips

Hey everyone,
See I told you I would be back blogging more recently;)
Hope you're all doing good and if you aren't please go back and have a look on my blog post about positivity because I would hate for you guys to ever be upset because of some idiot who isn't even worth your time. However always remember that it's worse to bottle up your feelings and to try pretend they don't exist because sometimes it's better to let it all go, trust me! Now I better move on before I start typing out another rendition of frozen to you all..

So I was thinking of blog post ideas and I know a lot of you will be coming up to doing lots of exams so I thought I would try help you if any of you out there are struggling for revision. I know there will be some of you studying for your gcse's and some doing a levels, like me. But of course, the advice works for basically everyone as long as you stick to it.

First of all I'd like to say no I'm not gonna write out a crappy revision plan with how you'll exactly spend your day because I honestly believe it doesn't help as we need a bit of spontaneity in our lives especially as our lives resolve around school and work hours. Although for those of you who generally find it helpful then good for you! I'm just saying my personal views, no need to follow. So, here goes:

My Revision Tips: (Yes it annoys me there is 8 not 10 so shush)

  1. Try to be more organised. Now I'm not saying you must have a clean bedroom and an
impeccable structured lifestyle as I totally don't. I mean how can you, you can't exactly plan concerts right? All I'm saying is try be more organised with your school work and preferably your work space as that can help clear your mind a lot.
  2. Get a diary to write down all your latest homework or when you have to revise and definitely put down your exam dates so as they don't suddenly creep round the corner from you, always good to be prepared!
  3. Decide what your best revision strategy is, for example mine is to summarise my revision notes onto flashcards so as I can test myself on them later. Another example would be to create posters, leaflets etc. Basically whatever personally helps you revise then just go for it(such a good film tho, sorry I know I'm getting a bit of topic but Jennifer Aniston is literally everything goals aka why friends is my all time fave tv show without a doubt!) Even if it means decorating your whole house with post it notes, I know I used to do that for my gcse exams and I still do oops (good way to annoy your parents as well btw)
  4. Make relax and chill out days or if you really don't wanna do that as you have loads of work then at least take a break to watch your fave tv show after half an hour or an hour. Trust me after a certain amount of time, you will just lose focus and there's no point doing work if you aren't actually learning anything from it.
  5. Try your best, don't aim to always get 100% in mocks as you have to remember they aren't the real exam, they're only little tests to see where you are struggling and need extra help. And as for exams, focus on yourself, it doesn't matter how much/little other people say they have done, you just need to focus on yourself and what you personally want to get!
  6. If you have absolutely useless teachers, don't just sit back and use it as an excuse to do no work as trust me you'll regret it later. Use the time to revise with friends, see if the cover teacher knows anything or if you're doing a levels like me where you don't get cover teachers anymore then good luck haha.
  7. Find resources that help you for examples yes YouTube's great for entertainment well you'll also find it's pretty good for educational content as well. Textbooks are also really good as often they are written by the examiners so there's no chance of using the wrong exam board or finding the wrong information.
  8. My last tip is to not over stress yourself if you feel overflowed by work, remember your mental and physical health is more important then getting A's in exams, especially if they're only mocks. So hopefully some of you will find these exam tips useful, please let me know if they are. Good luck with all of your revision for exams/mocks etc, I believe in you aha. Talk to you guys soon.

Easter Break

Hey guys,
Long time no speak, again sorry about that but last friday was officially the start of my 2 week Easter holidays which I couldn't be more happy about, definitely was in need of a break from school! I'll bet you'll agree as I'm pretty certain most people broke up last friday like me although I know there's a few unlucky people out there who still have a week to go so all I'll say is keep killing it, you'll get through this week! (And hahahah to them because most of us will be all tucked up in bed while they'll be waking up at like 6/6:30 every morning..oh the joys of school)

Anyway, moving on from that crappy topic, how are we all?:)
Forgot to say before but I went to see the theory of everything and wow it was amazing but so sad, Eddie Redmayne did Steven Hawkins justice, such a good actor! Also went to see Insurgent which was an incredible film, definitely can be classed as a proper action film this time as they had a lot more money for the production of the film and also had some new actors as well.Would of course recommend both films for you guys to watch, loved them a lot.

So just got my exam timetable last friday, only have 3 exams: 2 psychology and 1 english language exam as I've already done my photography exam. Currently doing revision for psychology using coloured flashcards which I find so helpful so if any of you out there are stuck or just wanting new ways to help with revision then I'd definitely say give flashcards a go. Although I'm finding english a harder subject to revise for as it's different revising for english like I will make flashcards on the framework and different theorists but after that it's just about improving your exam technique and doing lots of past paper questions. One of the the main things that's getting me through the exams is knowing that after the 2nd of June which is my last exam(my english one) until the 8th June when I go back to school to start A2 stuff I'm free of everything, I'm just gonna dedicate those days to film and tv days, can't wait!

No surprise here but I've kinda got addicted to another tv series on netflix called the originals, ever since the vampire diaries ended I was so sad but I found they've made a spinoff all based around the original vampires. I thought it might not be as good but wow was I wrong, only 2 episodes to go and I've watched all of season 1 oops.

Last Saturday I went to pick up my brother from uni in Bristol and as we have an uncle living down there we decided to stay down in Bristol for a couple of days before we come back. A bonus is as I'm doing photography based on weather it's perfect for Somerset (where my uncle lives) for the beautiful landscapes and scenery. Took a lot of wind photographs as well as the weather was pretty windy the day we decided to climb up to the Glastonbury Tour, so typical aha. Here are a few shots I took while I was there:

Sorry about not posting for nearly a month but I've just been busy, I'll try to post more often but all I can promise is that I'll always do a blog post in under a month if that helps. Better get back to revision then, talk to you guys later!
