Stigma Behind The Celebrity Culture

I'm back and it hasn't been long, success!
So today I wanted to talk to you about everybody's obsessions with celebrities and how for a lot of boybands and famous people there is a huge stigma behind liking them as if you're committing a crime! However, liking a football club, being obsessed with them and crying when they lose is a completely different thing!

Like I honestly don't understand our culture these days, everybody just judges who we like and if we don't like the same people then we are hated. That just isn't right like the world would be such a boring place if everybody liked the same people, had the same music taste and aspired to look like the same people. Everyone just needs to grow up and realise people have different tastes!

I also feel like a lot of people don't understand for example why anybody likes youtubers when apparently they either didn't work for their fame, don't deserve it because all they do is film videos or they can't be seen as idols as they haven't done anything to look up too. (Personally I 100% disagree with all these views) Yet millions of young kids nowadays look up to footballer Luis Suarez who bites people when he gets angry..right ok because he is definitely role model material.

You wanna know the reason behind liking youtubers, boybands, models etc? I say this from my personal view but so many people grow in confidence from what youtubers say in their videos or what boybands say to their fans. Like I went to Alfie Deyes(a YouTuber from the channel PointlessBlog) signing a couple of weeks ago in Leeds (feel free to judge me but just read what I say before you criticise me) and I just felt so freaking confident when talking to him and that doesn't happen very often for me! And it's just the best feeling like at school I only talk when teachers ask me questions and I'm only confident when I'm around my friends so yeah I guess I'm kinda quiet but when I was with Alfie I just felt so confident and amazing and I loved it! That's how most people feel when they see their favourite people, so stop judging people for things/people that make them happy! Would you laugh at people for getting excited over pancake day? Nope.. so why laugh when people get excited over a boybands new single!

There isn't enough happy people in the world, so do you really wanna be the reason to make yet another person be miserable? Still there's people dying due to depression (like the awful case of singer Lil' Chris) because people don't see it as a serious issue, how many people do people need to see die before they believe it's a serious mental illness and with help it can be overcome! People just need to ignore the social stigma and accept it's a thing and advise them to get help! I feel like I'm writing a speech but seriously though we need to stop living in the world where 'Just deal with it' was the solution to everything because it's clearly not anymore! We aren't robots you know, you'd think it sometimes with how the government treats everyone, for example comparing ourselves with the Chinese population who get straight A's but only because they have no social life and work 24/7; that's not even living right? People say the teenage years are the best years of our life, but I couldn't disagree more like all anybody cares about is getting good grades and then into a good uni I hate it so much! Personally, I'm just so looking forward to finishing sixth form and being able to have a good time in my 20s (still contemplating about uni's though).

Sorry about the rant haha as you can tell I'm very passionate about this topic so I can easily go off on one but hope you agree with some of my opinions as I know there's a lot of ignorant people out there! Talk to you guys later.
Sophie

( PS I know it's random but forgot to say when I was picking up my brother from uni a while ago, I was obviously collecting boxes from his room and some older guy living there thought I was moving in for uni! That's honestly the first time someone has thought I'm older than I am. Even in places like HMV trying to buy a rating 15 dvd when I'm 16 they just wouldn't let me like that so annoyed me. I needed ID to prove it and you know just this day I didn't happen to be carrying around town my passport with me;)
